FYI - Despite a horrible head cold with congestion and 8 inches of snow in Cow Town, I officially passed my confined water dives for Scuba certification. I successfully learned how to prepare my scuba unit, breathe underwater, flood and clear a mask, breathe underwater without a mask, perform a fin pivot, perform a 5 point descend, hover underwater (aka bouyancy control) and breathe from an alternate air source, to name a few. Now I just have to pass my open water dives, which will take place in Hawaii!! Go me :)

I'm having a Ross Geller moment

So, I'm not wearing leather pants today, but I'm wearing fresh from the dryer jeans. Just before putting on my very tight jeans, I put Neutrogena's Body Wrap lotion on my legs, and now I have to stretch my legs every time I walk so that my jeans will fit better. Not to mention, my legs are starting to sweat now. Great.

Thats a spicy meat-a-ball!

So, I'm sitting at my desk typing away, listening to Pandora radio (my customized Louis Armstrong station), when all of a sudden, I hear the following:

"I’ll be glad when you’re dead you rascal you
I’ll be glad when you’re in your grave you dog
When your dead and in your grave no more ravioli will you crave
I’ll be glad when you’re dead you rascal you
I’ll be glad when you’re dead you rascal you
I’ll be glad when you’re in your grave you dog
I invite you to my house for a meal; all my meatballs you try to steal!
Oh, you’re a dirty dog"

I was intrigued by this weird little song because it has dark humor lyrics set to a really happy tune. My only conclusion was that whoever wrote this song must be suffering from Only Child Syndrome because to wish death on someone for stealing a meatball is harsh! And yes, you guessed, I'm a little biased because I'm a meatball stealer, but I'd like to think of it more as co-habituation.

Part cat, part fish = catfish

I'm getting Scuba Certified tomorrow for Hawaii!!! I've been kind of intimidated by scuba diving lately, but everyone's been telling me I've got nothing to worry about. I guess the saying is true - "Scuba diving is so easy, even a cat can do it!" Not really sure if I quoted that correctly.

Summer Dreaming

I just stumbled on this photo of Marilyn Monroe, and it got me dreaming of summer. Its going to be 64 degrees in Cow Town today! Not quite swimsuit weather yet, nor is my body ready to grace the world in a swimsuit, but summer is calling my name. Hawaii in 75 days! Better start applying the sunless tanner now and invest in some disposable razors...I may actually have to trim my leg hair first...sick :) "Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it." ~ Russel Baker. I'm sure Baker did not mean this quote in my context, but I thought it fit...hehe.

There always after me Lucky Charms!

This is how my work celebrates St. Patty's Day.

Top O' the Mornin' to Ya!

May you enjoy the four greatest blessings:
Honest work to occupy you.
A hearty appetite to sustain you.
A good woman to love you.
And a wink from the God above.

It be raining in Cow Town this lovely Irish morning, but if you've ever been to the Emerald Isle, then you know this is the perfect Irish weather. I surely do have the Luck of the Irish with me this fine March 2010. After 4 years of long distance with Blake, I will finally be moving to the same town, and in only 2 months, we will be married! God must surely be winking at Blake and I from above :)

To get you into the Irish spirit this lovely St. Patty's Day, here are a few photos from mine and Blake's adventure in Ireland:

"You have plenty of courage, I am sure," answered Oz. "All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty."

Nameless Cat

The rain is making me sleepy, and I just feel like hanging outside of my window strumming a guitar.

Helloooo Spring!

"Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush." ~Doug Larson

Blake and I took a walk yesterday in the lovely 60 degree weather, and we saw our first glimpse of spring! The magnolia trees are beginning to bloom! My heart felt so full walking with my best friend, eating frozen yogurt, listening to birds chirping, and seeing the magnolia buds. The only thing that could have made the day better was Louis Armstrong.

Wedding Day Horoscope

I don't believe in horoscopes, but they are always fun to read!

Here is mine and B's Wedding Day Horoscope :)

The idyllic weather and relaxed pace of summer make it the favorite season for weddings. But does astrology favor the bride and groom who choose to marry during this time? To find out, look at the position of Venus -- the ruling planet of love and partnership -- on the day of the big event. Venus will travel through four signs of the zodiac this summer: Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, and Leo. Everything about the celebration -- the music, the food, the behavior of the guests, even the temperament of the wedding couple takes on the shape, tone and characteristics of Venus in her sign. Whether you're marrying in the next few months, sharing the spotlight as maid of honor or best man, or simply attending a ceremony as an appreciative guest, here's a Venusian sneak preview of what to expect from this summer's wedding season.

Venus in Taurus (May 29 to June 22)
The languid, sensuous energy of Taurus -- one of the strongest signs for Venus -- describes a wedding day full of ravishing colors, tastes, sights and textures. The flowers are lavish, the food exquisite, the music enchanting, and the bride and her attendants gorgeous. The marriage that begins with Venus in Taurus starts on a note of prosperity and stability that will continue through all the years of the marriage.

This celebration of sensual bounty comes with one caveat -- Taurus moves at its own pace, and it's not a snappy one. The baker takes his sweet time setting up the cake at the reception; the flower girl flows down the aisle like honey straight from the refrigerator; the minister takes so long to get through the ceremony that even the bride and groom begin to nod off. There's no point in trying to rush anything -- Taurus moves at its own pace, smelling the roses along the way. Relax and enjoy the ride!

Ya know what, I'm cool with this horoscope. I'm definitely a "Stop and Smell the Roses" kind of gal. Should be fabulous.

Oh Me Oh My!

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." ~Charles Dickens

Oh Me Oh My can it be true!? 50 degree weather this coming weekend!? My pale, scaly, translucent skin is shivering with excitement. The sun is shining, snow is melting and I'm a smiling. Hooray for Spring!
